“I know you love me because you give me food,” shared a young boy to his teacher upon receiving his weekend food from our BackPack Program. It’s a quote we’ve shared in past but one worth sharing again.
This week marks the 10th Anniversary of our region’s BackPack Program, a program made possible by you. This program fills a meal gap for children on weekends who are without their federally subsidized school breakfast and lunch.
Thanks to your support we’re able to provide entrees, shelf stable milk, cereal, canned fruits and vegetables and snacks to nearly 1,100 children weekly at 44 NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin schools.
As another child recently shared to his bus driver, “someone cares about me.”
