“If you’ve got plenty of money you can drive into town to get groceries,” shared Alecia. “But because of my limited income I can’t.”

As COVID-19 makes its way into our Northland communities, many of our neighbors have been left without needed supplies. Not having the luxury to stock up, our programs have become even more critical in ensuring meals for area families.

Over 420,000 meals have been mobilized in the last month thanks to your support of our COVID-19 response.  That’s 14,000 meals a day for our NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin neighbors.

“We’d be hungry without this food,” Alecia shared. “We appreciate it very much.”

It’s difficult to know when this public health crisis will subside, but it’s comforting to know you’re here to support our most vulnerable neighbors.

Over the last few weeks we’ve asked volunteers who are elderly or suffer from serious chronic health issues to remain at home.  Fortunately, healthy volunteers like you have stepped in to fill this important part of our workforce.

In celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 19-25, 2020, we’d like to thank you for your additional support at this critical time.  Each year over 1,300 regional volunteers add 7.72 full-time equivalents to our 17-member staff.

Your support this year is likely to exceed any other year in our 36-year history.  Thank you for helping us pack, label and sort food, assist with our programs and ensure so many meals for our Northland neighbors in need.
