Food Fills Julia’s Heart

Food Fills Julia’s Heart

Six years ago, Julia was diagnosed with ALS — a progressive neurodegenerative disease. She was one of the youngest people ever to receive this diagnosis. At first glance, you would never guess she’s anything but healthy.  But if you look closer you can see the braces on her legs and limp in her step.

Julia’s family provides a tremendous amount of love and support — but they struggle to make ends meet. So for the food and nutrition she needs they use the food shelf.

“The food shelf is helping me stay healthy,” said Julia. “I don’t know where I’d be without them.”

Thanks to your support, families, children and seniors in our region who struggle with short and long-term health issues are able to access healthy and nutritious food.

Whether through our food shelf, our Mobile Food Pantry Program, or Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS), you ensure a healthy diet for those who need our extra care.

As her mom shared, “For someone struggling with so much, Julia is incredibly positive and encouraging. She’s just grateful for everything she has.”

“To everyone who makes the food shelf possible, thank you so much,” she said. It really helps me and my family out — and I mean that from my heart.”

Thanks to you, we’re ensuring more than 4.9 million nutritional meals for Northland families, children and seniors in need.

Here’s a sampling of partners like you who fill the plates and hearts of our NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin neighbors in need:
