Our BackPack Program started in 2010 when we aligned with the Superior School District and National Bank of Commerce to feed 80 children in need as part of the Nutrition on Weekends (N.O.W.) Program.

Today, your support feeds more than 1,050 children each week in seven NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin
counties, touching students in more than 16 school districts.

The concept is simple. Teachers, school staff, and the children themselves identify a need, children are enrolled and a weekend bag of food is provided at the end of the school week.

For years you’ve helped us supply children with “easy-to-open,” “easy-to-prepare,” single serving foods. This fall, your support will allow us to embark on a new pilot program to provide multi-serving food to children, more than doubling the food they currently receive. “We’re excited about this pilot,” said Mary Bakken, Washington Elementary School Teacher. “It already meets an important need but could now feed siblings or others at home.”
