Ellen, one of our grateful seniors who recently had a box of food from our Nutrition for Seniors Program delivered to her home, called to thank us.

“I just want to say thank you,” she shared tearfully, “I got my box today and I used the shredded beef and some of the diced tomatoes and cheese. This was the first cooked meal that I’ve had in about three weeks, and I just wanted to say thank you.”

Stories like this are not in short supply. Of the neighbors receiving our assistance, 19% are seniors, and so many share similar gratitude for your support of our food distribution in NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin.

Our support of seniors is critical to their health and well-being. In fact, studies show that access to regular and nutritious meals lessens their chance of chronic health issues like heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and depression and could even help strengthen their immune system to fight viruses like COVID-19.

As Cherry, another senior, shares, “I’m so grateful for all the food I receive. The volunteers who deliver it are really kind. I’m so careful and make use of whatever I receive. We’re lucky to have you.”

We couldn’t provide meals to Ellen, Cherry, or other seniors without partners like you. Here’s a sampling of those who are generously supporting our hunger-relief work:

  • Catholic Charities Bureau, Diocese of Superior
  • Feeding America (and their generous supporters)
  • Lahti Family Charitable Foundation
  • Sam’s Club
  • Target
  • Walmart
