During the holiday season not every family is able to celebrate in the
traditional way. Brittany and her husband are both employed, but
they still struggle to make ends meet. They stretch every dollar to
make sure their two growing boys have enough to eat — even if that
means going without special Thanksgiving or Christmas meals.

“Holiday meals are expensive,” Brittany shares. “And they’re not in
our budget. I know we’ll eat those days, but I plan on things like
grilled cheese sandwiches or spaghetti.”

That’s until she discovered that the Mobile Food Pantry Program
near her rural home distributed turkeys. “For Thanksgiving, we
got to eat meat, it was such a luxury,” she shared. “My son was so
excited and kept saying, ‘I love turkey!’ There was something so
magical about being able to sit at the dinner table with my family
and enjoy this holiday meal.”

Your generosity ensures turkeys at the holidays and
nutritional meals all year for thousands of Northland
families like Brittany’s. But even more important, you allow
families to create their own traditions and celebrate in a
“magical” way.

“As a mom, it makes me feel bad when I can’t provide my sons with
things other families might take for granted — like holiday meals,”
she continued. “It’s heartbreaking. But because of the Mobile
Pantry, I could provide that for them this year. I’m grateful, it’s been
such a blessing.”
