“I wanted to give one last gift,” shares Joan on a recent call to our food bank. A generous donor with a heart for kids, she shared that she’d be moving to the east coast at the request of her son, which would also bring her closer to her own grandchildren and great grandchildren. “I’m getting up there (in years),” she shared with an innocent giggle.

Joan contributed a small piece of her retirement income every other month for a period of 8 years. Whenever she was provided the opportunity, she’d earmark her gift for children. “You have a wonderful food bank and I think it’s been wonderful to be a part of it for quite a while now,” Joan shared. “Good luck to you and I’m hoping that it continues to be very helpful for the children.”

We’re grateful to Joan for sharing her heart with Northland children. She’s been an important part of their lives ensuring more than 6,000 nutritious meals.
