United HealthCare takes social responsibility seriously.  In early spring, they reached out to ask how they could reduce hunger and make the most impact in our community.  Our answer was simple – fresh produce.

Within weeks, a $30,000 grant and several volunteers were available to assist in our rescue and distribution of 142,000 pounds of fresh produce for families, children and seniors in NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin.

In total, nearly 8,000 daily servings of fresh fruits and vegetables were made available through 247 different distributions including 50 regional agency partners and our own direct service programs.
