“My husband and I both worked our entire lives, but we never made enough to save,” said Pat. “We spent our earnings on providing for our family. So in old age, we’re left with nothing but a small, fixed income to live on.”

Like Pat, thousands of Northland seniors struggle with hunger. It’s a troubling trend because seniors who skip meals are more likely to experience chronic health issues like depression, heart attack and asthma.

Fortunately, Pat and her husband our Nutrition for Seniors Program – Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and now receive a monthly supply of nutritional food.

“The extra food has really improved my health,” Pat said. “I’m grateful we found the food bank. I want to thank everyone there because they keep a lot of people from going hungry.”
