Nancy found the support of her church’s food shelf helpful during the summer when her kids weren’t able to access school meals.

“I’ve been coming to get food here for the last three months,” shared Nancy, the mother of three, outside the small rural food shelf she visits on a sunny afternoon. Self-employed as a housekeeper, Nancy’s found the support of her church’s food shelf particularly helpful during the summer when her kids weren’t able to access school meals.

“They’re very nice people, they’re here all the time,” she shares of the volunteers she greets with a smile. “It’s only me working to support our three children.”

As the program begins, Nancy gets a first glance at the fresh produce, meat, milk, and cereal she’s able to select for her family. Made possible by your support, these are just a few of the items we’re able to supply our NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin food shelves and other charitable feeding programs at a time when families like hers need it most.

Nancy’s children, including her youngest Matthew, are now returning to school which will allow them to access meals through their school meal, after school and weekend programs like our BackPack Program. But for now, she’s grateful for your support, “I can pay my bills now, so this is helping out a lot.”
