After discovering the need many Northland families, children and seniors are facing, Dave committed to volunteer weekly. “It has been eye opening to see how [people] need this food,” he says. “From sickness, hardship and just plain bad luck – the need runs the gamut.” Dave has been retired since 2014 and, in addition to the 4-1/2 hours he volunteers with us each week, he enjoys wood working, gardening and reading.

Through his gift of time to our organization, Dave feels he’s sharing hope and his help with others. “I’ve had a good life and want to give back. This gives me meaning,” Dave says. “My plan is to continue to volunteer until I physically am unable.” Dave believes that volunteering is important and meaningful. Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank offers a variety of volunteer opportunities. To join Dave in getting involved in our hunger-relief work, contact us today.
