Our unique partnership with Y-ker Acres, a Duluth-based pork and beef producer, has resulted in over 14,000 pounds of highly desired protein for our neighbors in need over the last year.

Over the last year we have received a special stream of funding to purchase food from local producers that could be distributed to families, children and seniors affected by the pandemic.  This unique opportunity also helped producers whose distribution channels were disrupted by the closure of restaurants, schools, and more.

“It’s rewarding to be able to put food into the system and help in this way,” shared Matt Weik, owner of Y-ker Acres, a Duluth-based pork and beef producer who has the goal of providing our region with responsibly raised food. “We were growing food that needed to be harvested and understand its importance in stabilizing kids and families.”

Matt shared that a few of the people who received his product at our distributions have reached out. “One that came to mind was a Veteran,” he shared. “He said our brats were the best brats he had ever eaten.” Our unique partnership has resulted in over 14,000 pounds of highly desired protein for our neighbors in need over the last year.
